He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:5-6 NIV
“Not good enough.”
“Fraud”
“Hypocrite – if they only knew”
These are some of the lies rattling around in my head.
Lies the enemy designed to keep me in bondage and away from God.
Lies that say the cross isn’t enough.
The best lies have a seed of truth.
I know I’m not good enough – nowhere near good enough.
I’m a fickle hearted, adulterous Israelite.
A sheep who wanders.
A goad kicking grumbler.
In light of a Holy God, I don’t even come close.
If you peeked in my window at the right moment, you might wonder if I’m saved.
Somehow God loves me anyway.
Mercy.
I go my own way and sin – the penalty is death.
God’s answer is Himself.
Instead of the punishment I deserve, He calls me His Own, makes me His heir – welcomes me home.
Oh Mercy mild, how He loves this wayward child.
Lies whisper, “There’s no way He wants you.”
Mercy and grace say, “It is finished.”
Nothing can snatch me from His Hand.
Rest in His righteousness.
Believe I am beloved.
He loves me when I can’t love myself.
Grace gives God.
Mercy makes saints.
Blots out transgressions.
Washes clean with unfailing love.
He restores and makes me strong, firm, steadfast.
Sin no longer masters.
He delights in showing mercy.
It never runs out – it’s new every morning.
Grace reigns.
Worship the King.
But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.
Ephesians 2:4-5 NIV
