“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. Matthew 23:37
Not good enough.
Flake, mess up.
These are the lies I tell myself – lies I often believe.
Lies that keep me in bondage.
Lies that keep me from God.
I struggle to be who God calls me to be, do what He calls me to do.
I have nothing to offer.
I am less than.
How could God ever love me?
“I want to gather you close – as a hen protects her chicks but you won’t let Me.”
God is far from me – yet it is me who is far from God.
The Rock never moves.
I sit alone behind a self imposed wall of lies.
Do I choose my version or God’s?
In His Word, He tells me:
I am a child of God.
But to all who have received Him – those who believe in His Name – He has given the right to become God’s children… John 1:12
I am a friend of Jesus
I no longer call you slaves, because the slave does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because I have revealed to you everything I heard from My Father. John 15:15
I am Redeemed and Forgiven
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace. Ephesians 1:7
I am Not Condemned
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1
His Love is Unconditional
But God demonstrates His Own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 NIV
Nothing Can Separate Me
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from Me, for My Father has given them to Me, and He is more powerful than anyone else. John 10:28-29 NLT
I am a citizen of Heaven, created for kingdom work.
Stop pondering the past.
Forget what lies behind and reach for what’s ahead.
The invitation is issued, a feast prepared.
Everything is ready but I think I’m unworthy of the table.
Cling to lies, ignore the invitation and miss the banquet.
Who decides I’m qualified to come?
Dinner is waiting, I’m an invited guest.
He invites us all.
Beggar to banquet.
Guilty to grace.
Lies for life.
Shadow feet take hesitant steps.
The invitation is to follow, not lead.
I can’t but He can.
In my weakness He is strong.
Old things pass away.
Sin slave no more.
Put on the new – His robe of righteousness, clothes of compassion.
Take refuge under His wings.
Believe Him who is faithful and true – God never lies.
